Unknown perpetrators broke into the offices of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Vojvodina (NDNV) in Novi Sad last night.
The NDNV offices are located in the Sports and Business Center Vojvodina, better known as Spens. According to initial, unofficial information, the break-in occurred around 11 PM. Spens is a facility that locks its doors to visitors at 10 PM.
The police were on the scene and conducted an inspection.
According to the initial reports, the break-in was reported by the Spens security, who heard the alarm. The police arrived last night and sealed the premises. This morning, together with NDNV representatives, they entered to carry out an inspection with forensic experts. It was determined that the break-in occurred through a warehouse space, and so far, footprints have been found.
NDNV President Ana Lalić stated that the association does not want to speculate on the motive for the break-in but added that it cannot be ruled out that this could be a continuation of the regime’s persecution of its members.
“NDNV does not want to speculate on the motive for this break-in. However, since we have been targeted for months and our members have been subjected to brutal hate campaigns, we cannot exclude the possibility that this is related to that,” said Ana Lalić to reporters.
She added that NDNV will continue to operate as it has until now. “This neither scared us nor will it prevent us from continuing to do our work,” emphasized Ana Lalić.
